Life Sciences Investment Forum attracts VC investors and angels

The Forum, which was part of the NZBIO conference held in March has generated a buzz for 13 New Zealand-based life sciences companies, with venture capitalists from Australia and New Zealand, as well as angel investors showing interest in some exciting investment opportunities.

The NZBIO conference agenda focused on the pivotal role that bioscience plays in delivering New Zealand's future economic performance, by developing intellectual property that adds value to our existing biological industries.

Tim Kahlen, Investment Specialist at ATEED says the companies that presented at the Forum are great examples of this, with the 40 people – including 13 investors – in attendance being very impressed by the companies’ ‘pitches’.

“The feedback so far has been very good,” says Tim. “A handful of the investors have already indicated that they want to look at some of the opportunities that were presented in more detail, which is a great first step.”

As well as organising the event, ATEED also helped to get many of the companies that presented at the Forum up to speed by organising presentation training for them with an external consultant. “The training really helped sharpen up some of the presentations,” says Tim.

“The standard of presentation on the day was really high, with the companies doing a great job of telling their stories to the investors. Hopefully this will help them generate the investment they need to take their products to a global market.”
